Trench Warfare from Me Harty

Allstars 112-4 chasing 223 to win. A gritty workmanlike innings from Stephen Harty, whose batting is more stolid than pretty. It’s rather too much like trench warfare for my liking.

Fortunately the runs are flowing at the other end. Particular mention has to be made of James Hindle, whose elegant, Gower-like innings delighted the locals, many of whom have decided to take up cricket in order to emulate him.

Meanwhile the Melbourne snoozemeister continues to toil, apparently seeking to bore the opposition into submission.

Update

GEK 127-1 off 25. Mixed performance from us so far – loads of wides and have bowled a bit too short, but some good balls too, and we’ve been a little unlucky. The oppo are all Greek, and all teenage. The three batsmen we’ve seen so far all have very good technique but hit uppishly. We could do with a couple of wickets soon.
