Maxie Allen has dismissed reports that emotionally stunted loudmouth Ricky Ponting will be joining the Allstars for the 2011 Season.
After a disastrous Ashes, it was assumed that Ponting would drop down a level or two from Test cricket, in an attempt to regain some form. Talking to Channel 9 Sport, Ponting confirmed that he saw the London social cricket circuit as about right for the level that he has recently sunk to. “I think that I have now reached the sort of standard seen on Barnes Common, and of course the Allstars are the most prestigious team in London. I am hoping to hook up with the team for nets in early February” said Ponting, before muttering something about Gary Pratt while looking like he was chewing a wasp.
But Maxie moved quickly to quash such talk. “He’s just not good enough” said the Allstars supremo from the shiny new Allstars HQ in Edgeware.
Of course Ian Bell's century may count as an ashes century, but it was not made against a top test bowling attack.
(I am not paranoid that his good ashes tour will mean he replaces me on the next all start tour at all!.

I'd love to know what an “all start tour” is.

It's a tour where we all start, but some of us fall asleep during dinner/get arrested/mysteriously disappear with some 'dancers'/acquire an unexplained stripper related injury midway, and fail to finish.
